Show + Tell Monday {Wedding Bells Ringing}

Pin It Now!
Show + Tell Monday; I show you and tell you a little bit about myself. Below are 5 questions and answers about our wedding!

 Are you married? If so when did you get married, and tell us about your special day.

 Yes, and I married to the man of my dreams {truly}! The Mr. and I got married on June 30, 2006. We were a fresh 20 years old.

Since the Mr.'s dad is a farmer {as well as a decent portion of his extended family} we had to really plan our actually ceremony and reception around milking time. Sounds silly, but it's true. The cows have to be milked like clockwork. 6 AM. 6 PM.

We settled on a 7:00 PM ceremony on a Friday evening. We got married at the church I grew up in, which happened to be the very place the Mr. spotted me for the first time {June 4, 2004}.

I had the traditional white gown and the Mr. had a black tux with a black vest and white tie. The six bridesmaids wore black t-length dresses, and the six groomsmen + four ushers wore black tuxes with black vests and gold{ish} ties. We had a pretty adorable flower girl and ring bearer too. All the girls and I carried a bouquet of my favorite flower, gerbera daisies.

Our 8:30 reception was indoor/outdoor. Hors d'oeuvres were served inside right next to the live jazz band and the dance was outside on a huge balcony.

I remember as we left for the night all the guests leaned over to the edge of the balcony as we walked to our car. They were all cheering and clapping as the bid us goodbye.

It was really the perfect day for us.
My only regret is hiring an amateur photographer. We have lots of pictures, but few quality ones to choose from.

Show us some wedding pictures.

{My Dad. Could you tell?}

How about the engagement? Tell us your story.

The Mr. and I got engaged while he was back home for a visit from school. He made the 12 hour drive to come home for a weekend to propose to me and attend a wedding together.
He took me to one of my favorite places, Hobbs Woods. It's a wooded area with lots of hiking trails, a big cliff, and a creek. It's a place that I visited often as I was growing up. I had many memories there and the Mr. wanted to make a memory there that we would never forget.

On October 21, 2005 he took me there and found a perfect spot to kneel down on one knee and pop the question. I obviously said yes! We frequent Hobbs Woods quite often, now with our Fur Baby and each and every time we say, "Here's the spot". It's special that we get to relive that memory.

Show us your wedding rings or an engagement photo!

 Tell us why you think marriage doesn't work out for so many? What can we do to make things last?

Plain and simple. I think marriage doesn't work out for so many because they don't have God at the center of their marriage. Without that foundation I don't know how people make it.

I'm not a know-it-all and I've only been married for 6 years so I think this question is better suited for someone who just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. With that being said, what has worked for us to make it last is being proactive about our marriage and guarding it. We are constantly learning about one another, marriage in general, and are mindful of how sacred our union is.
