30 Day Challenge

Morning friends, it's a sleepy one over here. BUT, the sun is shining, I am healthy, and God is good so no whining for me!

I wanted to let you in on a little something I started over the long weekend {wasn't that refreshing?!}.

Before I tell you about it I have to give you a little information about me, The Mrs. If there is one thing you need to know about me and my eating habits is that there's room for improvement. Fortunately I have been blessed with the skinny genes and a high metabolism {thanks Mom + Dad!} and I have definitely used that to my advantage eating wise. 

The Mr. and I truly eat pretty healthy. We cook healthy meals, eat our fruits and gag down our veggies. I also keep healthy snacks in the house. The one thing that I don't do is have self control over the area of sweets. I could enjoy a sweet snack a couple times a day and not think twice about it! For example, I could stop at the store on my somewhere to pick up a doughnut and mow that sucker down. Then later I could have an ice cream cone. Talk about excessive? Yes. 

So, I got to thinking this weekend. I don't think I can honestly say I have self control over sweets and that's not okay. That is not me and that's not who I want to be. 

Aren't you glad I'm being so real with you? It's not easy to admit failure, but I knew I wanted to share this with you guys to maybe encourage someone else and to be encouraged by you! 

Now, let me make something quite clear. I AM NOT TRYING TO LOSE WEIGHT! What I am trying to do is be a healthier person and gain self control. If those jeans fit a little more comfortably in the process, then so be it. I need to prove to myself that I can do it. 

Here's how it's going to work: 

Starting September 1st {yay I've already completed 3 whole days} until September 30th I will not be partaking in sweets and fast food {read Culvers}. The one and only exception is an iced latte or some sort of beverage from the coffee shop that does not have chocolate in it. 

So far so good friends! The best part of it all is that I have recruited the Mr. and a dear friend of mine to join me on this journey! 

At the end of the 30 days my friend and I have decided we will be doing a little shopping to reward ourselves. A girl needs motivation!

I also have a killer sweet tooth and a miraculous metabolism, I've always felt guilty eating candy bars, or mini candies(because seriously who can eat just one individually wrapped candy??)so one night out of sheer desperation I broke into a bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips hiding in the cupboard. And ya know what? I feel so much less guilty indulging in a handful of semi-sweet chocolate chips than an entire candy bar! So that's my go to sweet snack now. :)

  2. Good luck girl! You can do it! ;) I'm trying to drop a few pounds by cutting out my pop addiction and my habit of snacking! Here's to September!!! :)

  3. I think that's awesome!! My husband and I are doing the WHole30 (no grains dairy or sugar for 30 days) I have never felt so disciplined in my life. It's crazy and awesome at the same time. We also have turned it into a Bible study with our friends as we try to be more disciplined in our Jesus time. Good luck!!!

  4. Way to go!!! I once went more than 6 months without any sweets. It was hard but once you get going it isn't as hard as you think!
