Kicking Off the New Year

Hey friends!

We're celebrating the start of 2013 by watching the Rose Bowl {go Badgers!} while munching on one of our favorite football game snacks. I am quite certain you'll want to make a batch of your own so I'll share the recipe.

Homemade Caramel Corn

 9 ounce bag puffed corn
1 cup brown sugar
1 stick butter
3/4 cup light corn syrup
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda

Pour puffed corn into a large paper bag. Set aside.

Microwave brown sugar, butter, corn syrup, and salt for 1 1/2 minutes. Stir. Microwave 3 additional minutes. Remove from microwave and stir in baking soda until mixture is foamy. 

Pour mixture over popcorn in paper bag. Fold top of bag down and shake well. 

Microwave 1 minute, shake bag. 
Microwave 1 minute, shake bag. 
Microwave 30 seconds, shake bag. 
Microwave 30 seconds, shake bag. 

Spread caramel corn on cookie sheet to cool.

    1. You can find it in the chip aisle at your grocery store. Usually there is just one brand available so you have to look hard :)
